Happy Monday all!
So, I’m back in Berlin and after a very surreal week of not knowing what day it is or where I am (as in, more so than usual) - I’ve finally got it together enough to draw some comics.
As per usual, let’s kick off with a few One Word Topics!
First prompt this week was nice and relevant with Dune 2 hitting the cinemas. And before you ask, yes - apparently there are birds on Arrakis.
Next up, someone decided to go nice and meta and request Comic Strip, so that’s how we ended up with this…
I’m also now realising that comics with lots of white background space in them have the effect of really spreading out a substack post. Look at all this room we’ve created here! Wonderful stuff.
Anyway, here’s a comic for Procrastination.
Coming in next is a comic visual I’d like to play around with a lot more, as it’s got endless opportunities for more jokes. Might even do an in-depth Desert Island-style post on it down the track. Anyway here’s a comic for Evolution.
While we’re here, (not evolutionary, just in this post) why not consider signing up to OUTLINED so you can get this wonderful nonsense straight to your inbox!
OK! Back to it. Next up this week we’ver got a comic for Cold Shower.
I’ve always quite enjoyed a comic that doesn’t require any words, which is why I’m really happy with this one for House Sitting.
Ooooh, look at that! More space.
Next one is my favourite for the week, and not just because I’m a huge fan of Toast.
And that concludes the One Word Topic section of this weeks post!
WHAT ELSE?
Well, let me tell you!
Last week subscriber Michael, a uni professor - kindly asked if he could use some of my comics as placeholder slides before a lecture to entertain the students, which I thought was a really cool thing.
So, I decided to draw up a couple of comics that would at least be a bit more relevant and topical for that particular use.
(Thanks again for the insperation here Michael!)
If there’s any other lecrurers who’d like to use these as well, do help yourself!
Is that it?
Almost!!! I did mention video and I’ll be honest, with Dune 2 out at the moment, this might not be the most thrilling bit of cinematophraphy out there at the moment, but I did want to share.
I’ve FINALLY decided to start having a play with animation and after an intensive couple hours of focus and frustration I eventually managed to create this actual masterpiece.
I know, I know, Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature is presumably in the mail.
Sequel is coming next week, if you can wait that long.
And that’s it!
What an edition! pretty happy with that.
As always, do leave a comment, or hit the like button or even give this a share! - it’s all very much appreciated!
And obviously, if you’re not subscribed yet (it’s Free!) get onto that too!
OK! See you next week!

I'm helping myself to the lecture placeholders! 🙋♀️ 🙏
My students really need to see them.
OMG I feel you with that animation ! 😂
