I KNOW, I KNOW! I disappeared for Waaaaay too long.
Here’s what happened: I went on a little holiday with my lovely folks and I thought I’d be able to draw some stuff along the way. HOWEVER, that was highly optimistic, as we all know the way holidays really go:
So, first of all - Big apologies to anyone who was waiting patiently for some comics, and an even bigger apology to that one paid subscription that unsubscribed! - I WILL win you back my darling love!
ANYWAY, enough of feeling sorry for myself - ON TO THE NONSENSE.
I got things rolling as soon as possible while waiting for my flight home with a little session of ‘One Word Topics’ at the airport, unsurprisingly a lot of the suggestions were flying based, and so we kicked things off with Airplane Mode.
Next up, someone suggested Legroom, which was one I obviously couldn’t pass on…
After that, someone who clearly knows me way too well suggested Tour de France which is on at the moment and likely to result in a full-blown Tour de France post later on, so get ready for that one all you non-cycling fans!
Now, having not drawn a post in weeks, now would be a pretty ridiculous point at which to encourage people to sign up for this Weekly comic newsletter - yet here I am doing exactly just that.
OK! back into it and the next One Word Topic was a comic for Pizza.
I should also mention that I was drawing these at an Airport bar, and as such, didn’t have a great deal of time or inclination to draw some of these as well as I’d like. Hence the reason this comic for Defenestration looks like it was drawn on the back of a napkin.
It was at this point that my ipad ran out of power and due to the fact a good friend had indefinitely borrowed my power cord, I was unable to charge it.
Which of course means…
And so, ON WE GO! (See? Look! Finally some real commitment to this newsletter!)
Next up on the long list of suggestions was one for a comic about Spacetime. You know, Spacetime - the relatively complex and fundamental aspect of astrophysics, and therefore clearly an obvious pick for comedy material. Anyway, I did my best.
I haven’t drawn like this on paper in a long time and I gotta say - it’s so very nice getting back to your roots.
It’s like on Chef’s Table where it gets to the bit in every episode where the chef loses their way in life then goes home and eats a lasagna their grandmother made and suddenly they’re all like “THAT’S IT!!! I’LL OPEN A LASAGNA RESTAURANT!” - But in this case, it’s with drawing and I’m actually making absolutely no effort to return to paper.
It’s really actually not like that bit in Chef’s Table at all to be honest.
Anyway, back to the airport theme with a request for a comic on Airport Security.
And, to finish things off, why not a little extra comic on the same theme!
And that’s it for this week! As always, be sure to comment and like and all that stuff, and if you’re enjoying OUTLINED, (now that it’s back to regular programming) - would absolutely LOVE IT if you shared it around! Thanks!
Right then, time to go start drawing next week’s edition. JUST LOOK AT THIS COMMITMENT! Outrageous.
May I make copies of the disorganized at the airport one to hand out next time I travel?
Hmm, may I suggest a whole series on the frustrations of air travel? There is so much that requires skewering there.
Actually, a book! A travel guide for the organized and impatient! And we can keep ourselves calm by finding the appropriate cartoon as required, and maybe even flashing it at the offender if we are seriously aggrieved.
Especially like the chicken crate! Back in the devil may care 90s we were living in Warsaw and regularly checked suitcases full of frozen legs of lamb travelling back there from London. Never once did these ‘severed limbs’ cause a stir 😂
