Friday Comics. Edition No.5
Think we're finally honing in on a consistent headline format here…
First up, CHECK THIS OUT! Absolutely over the moon to discover that OUTLINED has made the Top Comic Publications List!
We’re currently proudly sitting on the 34th spot and I’m absolutely thrilled. So Thank You for all the comments and likes and of course your sign-ups!
(Although I’ve realised watching this list constantly will now become my number one obsession, ah well!)
Anyway, Enough bullshit, Let’s Go!
In some excellent news, attempts to recapture the Eurasian Eagle-owl who escaped from the New York Zoo have been suspended after it evaded capture for a full two weeks.
According to sources the elusive bird named Flaco has made Central Park his new home and despite fears he may not survive outside of captivity, he is in fact doing just fine and is now effortlessly fitting into New York life.
According to Zoo officals, Flaco is apparently dining out on the rodent population of New York, which presumably should provide a plentiful food source.
In more personal news, last week I ended up at my first rodeo, which for a man who’s been saying ‘this ain’t my first rodeo’ about things for years now, felt a little late.
The First prize for the bull riding competition was $1000 (USD $690) - which is not even remotely close to the amount you’d have to pay me to try that out, let alone win it.
And yet, unbelievably, these guys willingly strap themselves to the livestock equivalent of a roided-up battering ram in the midst of an unhinged cocaine rampage and try their luck. It really is an incredible thing to witness, as is indeed any human activity that so perfectly splits the difference between bravery and sheer stupidity.
Moving onto art news, (although really, who says bull riding isn’t an art form) and we’re off to Miami where an art collector has done quite the opposite and swiftly dispatched one of Jeff Koons’ iconic balloon dogs valued at $42,000.
The porcelain dog was accidentally knocked off its pedestal from where it then headed swiftly towards the floor shattering into hundreds of pieces, each presumably still worth a few hundred dollars each.
While a mortifyingly embarrassing moment for the collector (who apparently made a swift exit) they can at least take solace in the fact that even if it wasn’t covered by insurance (which it is), it was just one of a collection of 799 balloon dogs, and given that our guy Jeff holds the record for the highest price paid for an artwork by a living artist, I’ve got a feeling he’s not too fazed.
And that’s it for this week! (I know, a little shorter than other weeks, but on the other hand the comics are drawn a bit better, so… I think that’s the trade-off right there…)
Absolutely loved drawing this week’s comics, which I’m only now just realising were all animal related in some way, so that’s cool - HEY LOOK! A Theme! Wowee, look at me go.
As always - If you’ve enjoyed this, and think other cool people you know might like it too - Please do forward it on or share it about! That would be wonderful. (Here I come 33rd spot!)
And of course, if you’re not already signed up for this little weekly injection of comics and/or Friday procrastination tool, you can do that below!
Happy Friday all, see you next week!

Hi Chaz, I love your newsletters. However, since you’ve made me aware of the Top Comics list here (congrats!), my new obsession is entirely your fault. So don’t bump me off please?
Really love the bull (both, the muscled one AND the more me-version of a bull (standing ifo the toiletts).
And so cute, how they stand upright on 2 legs like a human being. Love it. Another great weel. Well done Chaz.
