Those more observant might have noticed Great Britain's Union flag, as featured on the Seychelles here, has not white bands of equal width. A story goes that in the past captured garrisons would fly the Union Jack upside down to warn any approaching comrades. This worked as long as the wind was blowing, they had a telescope, and a geek who knew which way you ran it up the flagpole.

Really interesting post, Chaz; I'd like it if you did more! My vote for the most boring flag is Libya's previous one that was solid green. Did you know that Nepal has the world's only non-rectangular flag? 🇳🇵

My brother and I just went to a screening of MP and the Holy Grail last night. Great timing!
