So, first thing’s first: Why does this barely-off-the-ground publication already have a new name?! Well, in short, I’m an idiot.
So, Welcome to OUTLINED, and more specifically…
So, let’s get into it.
The only thing better than seeing your friends succeed, is the joy of watching people you’ve deemed to be your enemies fail. This was my first thought when I read this week that the immaculate joy hunting clean-freak herself Marie Kondo has finally given up and joined the rest of us in the real, and rather messy world.
Apparently it was after the birth of her third child that she had ‘kind of given up’ on the whole tidying thing, which to be fair, is about two children later than I would have given up on it.
Thing is, I’m not watching on with gleeful schadenfreude as Marie’s house begins to descend into chaos, if anything, I’m excited to finally welcome her to finding the joy in the messy dark side.
My other favourite story this week, in which I feel a weird, misplaced national pride for is the case of the missing radioactive capsule in the middle of the Australian desert. The entire saga sounds like something out of a Douglas Adams novel.
I just can’t stop thinking about the guy who did the equivalent of patting down his pockets and then going “Oh Shit…”
Then of course, there’s always the crisis management mate who walks you through it and tries to get to the bottom of where your lost thing might be…
The wildest thing about the whole story, is THEY ACTUALLY FOUND IT, which is perhaps even more impressive/ridiculous than misplacing it in the first place.
Personally, if I’d lost it, there would have been an intense period of panic and searching, followed by me completely forgetting about it and carrying on with my life as if it had never existed in the first place.
This same policy applies to me breaking things, as I effortlessly segue into shoehorning the following relatively unrelated comic into today’s post.
And finally to finish up this Friday post, WELCOME TO FEBRUARY! (a month that always looks like it’s spelled incorrectly) It’s quite frankly ridiculous that we’re already a third of the way through the year.
And that’s it for this week! As always, the comments are open to all - so please do jump in there if you feel so inclined.
This is only the second Friday post, but I’m absolutely loving the format so far and there’s going to be plenty more wonderful nonsense to come - so would absolutely LOVE it if you shared it around the place! THANK YOU!
And that’s it for now! See you all next Friday!
It's impressive how this substack thing gets even more out of you. Anyone was already happy with the drawings and captions on IG, the tweets on twitter, the (unfortunate rare) publications on medium, the content on Facebook [insert cricket humming sound here 😉].
But this here is a whole new level. Everyone knows about your great sense of humour and your talent when it comes to drawing. The ability to write was shown in captions, stories and on Medium... yeah man, you can do pretty well with words! Please keep that good work coming... and please think of another book... one, that contains more words than drawings. I would buy it... and i bet many others, too.
All the best, and congrats to 'outlined' 😘
Looks to me like the next book is writing itself here. Good stuff, thanks Chaz.
